I don’t know how to play piano or how to read and write music on a staff, yet I’m doing both today! (I got ambitious about how quickly I could work on the previous Thank You Nature song. It’s still percolating on a back burner. So I’m turning this series into something more… flexible!) And now I’m working on another song! It’s about barbarians. And I’m working out the melody on the #Yamaha keyboard because the key I’ve chosen (Ab maj) doesn’t lend itself to picking out a melody on the guitar, for me at least.
And it forces me to write down the notes as I go, rather than singing them into my recorder.
So I’m kinda forced to dig into my rudimentary tool kit and bump around on the piano and scratch around on the paper.
Necessity is a mother!
